The Poco Inn in Port Coquitlam Gets a Facelift and Warline Becomes Deck Experts

Some of our crew at Warline Painting recently spent the day becoming Certified Stain Contractors through Benjamin Moore’s Certified Contractor Training Program. It was a day well spent and over the next few months we will be sharing much of what we learned at this course. But since I am obsessed with colour – the new face of the Poco Inn & Suites, where our course was held, didn’t go unnoticed by me. So much so that I thought I should share.

It’s been some time since I’ve been by the Poco Inn on Lougheed Highway in Port Coquitlam, so I was pretty surprised by its facelift. Talk about bringing it back to life. The old Poco Inn was old. The original building was brick with dark metal windows.

A combination of cedar, ledge stone, sheet metal panelling, slate tile and paint refaced this building. I like the use of a dark charcoal grey, which I am pretty sure is Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal (HC-166) with an orange cedar trim.

The stained cedar compliments the orange/red brick underneath. The dark charcoal metal ties in the new ledge stone and the window trim also got a repaint.  We walked back to our truck and I was complimenting the renovation. Then in an instant my comments went from wow to yow.

The subpar workmanship of the painting of this building became evident. Huge paint sag marks all over the metal siding and a ridiculous amount of overspray all over the brick were everywhere. What a shame that such a great makeover could be so poorly executed by the commercial painters that did the job.

It is a good facelift. Such a shame the workmanship didn’t match the design.
